Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India

Although Kolhapur is famous for misal, mutton, tamda rassa, pandhra rassa; other cuisines are also mouth watering. If we go to any corner of India, south Indian snacks have a gained prominent standard and retained the taste depending upon its location. Kolhapur also has a few amazing South - Indian food places. They are as follows:-

This is old food joint started initially as a street food stall, which later on developed into a restaurant. Most famous item is Davangiri /loni dosa, spring dosa. Loni Dosa is crispy on the top and perfectly soft on inside. Coconut chutney and potato sabji (batata bhaji) is unlimited. Hot sambar is delicious.Very economical joint.

HOTEL GOKUL.......

'Old is gold', a hotel which reminds me of this quote. Started in 1963, it is located at very convenient distance from railway station as well as Kolhapur bus stand. It may also be the reason why it is crowded most of the times. South Indian dishes are popular which includes masala dosa, paper dosa, cheese-masala dosa, mysore dosa, medu-wada, idli-sambhar served with hot sambhar and green coconut chutney, onion uttapam, pattice. There are many more specialities, which we may discuss in future blogs. It is pure veg restaurant, good for family. Different types of cuisines are available for breakfast, lunch, brunch, snacks, dinner depending upon the time slot.

Both AC and non- AC seating arrangements are present. Lodging facility is also available.Slightly heavy on pockets, but manageable as it is hygienic with amazing taste. Parking is a major issue.
